NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Kutztown University women's bowling started the two-day Bud Whitman Memorial at Bowlerama by winning its final three matches to go 3-2, Saturday.
Junior
Chloe Sromovski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./G.A.R. Memorial) led the Golden Bears with a 182.2 average across five traditional games, while
Eleni Feggulis (South River, N.J./South River) rolled her way to a 178.6 average and
Megan Hanaway (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) had a 167.0.
Sromovski produced her first of two 200+ games with a high game of 203 as KU (4-3) fell to 11th-ranked Mount Saint Mary's, 1023-825, in its opening match. Feggulis added a 173 and Hanaway 163.
The Golden Bears fell just short against Molloy, 871-823, despite Hanaway's high game of 192.
Things started to turn in the right direction for the Maroon and Gold against Chestnut Hill, with strong games from Sromovski (202), freshman
Meghan Ripley (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) (183) and Feggulis (169). KU outlasted their rivals, 854-841.
Feggulis picked the Bears up against Pitt-Greensburg with her 196 leading the team to an 814-705 victory. Sromovski followed up with a 184.
In the finale, newcomer
Shelby Wunch (Easton, Md./Easton) recorded a team-high 188 in an all-around team win over Howard. Feggulis rolled a 182, Ripley a 180 and Hanaway a 177.
Sromovski's 182.2 average was good for 16th in the individual standings, while Feggulis finished just inside the top 20 in 19th.
Kutztown resumes play at 9 a.m. Sunday with five Baker matches to close out the tournament.
