LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Bridget Curtis (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and
Sadie Goad (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) both scored goals within 0:35 of each other late in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and send Kutztown women's soccer to a 3-1 victory at Lock Haven in its final road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (9-4-3 overall, 8-4-3 PSAC) also clinched the three seed in the Eastern Division in next week's PSAC Tournament. They will travel to play at the second seed, Bloomsburg, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at a time to be determined. The Huskies defeated KU twice during the regular season.
Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) tallied her team-leading seventh goal on the year in the 25th minute on a penalty kick for the game's opening score. Argen also assisted on Curtis's goal off a corner kick in the 77th minute. She now ranks in first in the conference with eight assists. Goad netted her second this season just 0:35 after Curtis, assisted by
Lexy Endres (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), to give KU the two-goal advantage and put the game all but on ice.
The Maroon and Gold went into halftime leading 1-0, but Mackenzie Hernley tied it up with a low shot that beat
Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown), who finished the game with two saves. KU recorded 17 shots to Lock Haven's 6 and had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Kutztown concludes its regular season with a home finale and senior day on Saturday, Oct. 29, against Millersville at 1 p.m. KU will recognize its four seniors, including
Kylee MacLeod (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts),
Madison Fey (Zionsville, Pa./Emmaus),
Julia Belfonti (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
