KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Junior forward
Sadie Goad (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) did all of the scoring for Kutztown women's soccer in a 2-2 draw against Millersville Saturday afternoon at Keystone Field in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division regular season finale for both teams.
The Golden Bears finished the regular season at 9-4-4 overall and 8-4-4 in the PSAC. KU is the three seed in next week's PSAC Tournament and will hit the road to take on Bloomsburg, the two seed, at 6 p.m., at Bloomsburg.
Prior to the game, head coach
Erik Burstein and his staff recognized seniors
Kylee MacLeod (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts),
Madison Fey (Zionsville, Pa./Emmaus),
Julia Belfonti (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
Ally Doyle (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown), along with graduate student
Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), who were playing in their final game on the Keystone Field turf.
But it was the junior Goad who made the headlines, netting both goals for the Maroon and Gold, one in each half. She now has three goals in the last two games. Her first goal came in the 41st minute that broke the deadlock and gave KU the advantage heading into halftime.
The Marauders (3-8-6, 3-7-6) answered in the 72nd minute to tie it up before Goad put her squad back out in front on a right-footed volley off a pass by Caroline McDonald in the 81st minute. Then 6:35 later, Millersville once again tied it up with a skirmish inside of the 18.
Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) finished with one save for KU, which outshot Millersville 13-4, 5-3 on goal. KU also held a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks.
