Kutztown enters the national spotlight at No. 24 in D2SIDA poll

National Poll

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – One day after climbing to second in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) women's basketball Atlantic Regional poll, Kutztown University entered the national stage, ranked No. 24 in this week's D2SIDA national poll.

It is believed to be the first time in program history that the Golden Bears have been nationally ranked. They are the only Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference team in the top 25.

The Golden Bears (15-3 overall, 8-1 PSAC) were winners of three games last week and nine in-a-row overall. They defeated Shippensburg (66-51) and Lock Haven (65-44) in PSAC East Division games last Monday and Wednesday respectively and concluded their week with a crossover victory against Mercyhurst (73-68) in overtime on Saturday.

The nine-game win streak is the second-longest win streak in program history. The 1971-72 team won 10 games in-a-row. KU is off to its best start to a season ever.

Kutztown sits on top of the East standings and will meet third place Bloomsburg (9-7, 7-3) on the road Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m.
