KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team netted a season-high five goals and defeated Shepherd University 5-0 Monday night at Keystone Field in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division game played three weeks after the original date.
The originally scheduled game, which was supposed to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 15, was postponed due to inclement weather. The Golden Bears (9-0 overall, 7-0 PSAC East) made sure to make the most of this game, scoring five goals and allowing zero for their ninth straight win this season.
Four different KU players found the back of the net, including two from
Kayla Argen (Cresco, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and one each from
Brittany Arentz (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern),
Sadie Goad (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and
Kylie Sourbeck (Canton, Mich./Canton).
Savanna Harrison (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge),
Melissa Ulrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) and
Jocelyn Fowler (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) all finished with one assist.
Argen tallied both goals in KU's two 1-0 victories last week and she scored KU's first two goals Monday. Her six goals this season ranks second in the PSAC.
PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week, sophomore goalie
Emme Wolfel (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown), finished with one save, and classmate
Cassandra Baker (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) also made one save as head coach
Erik Burstein was able to play 35 different players.
Kutztown hosts Lock Haven on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m., looking for double-digit wins.
