SCRANTON, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's rugby team was finally able to compete on the field and it came out successful, defeating the University of Scranton 39-12 on the road last Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Bears (2-0 overall) won their season-opener via forfeit in week one against East Stroudsburg. This week they were actually able to get out and compete.
Bekah Roux (Syracuse, N.Y./Baker) led the way with three tries, followed by one each from
Sarah Masters (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy),
Ana Malafu (Kihei, Hawaii/Maui),
Tamlyn Cowan (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) and
Alyssa Arena (Lititz, Pa./C Milton Wright). Cowan and
Kathryne Wasdyke (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) both also slotted conversions.
Kutztown will remain on the road for its next match this Saturday, Oct. 5, at Saint Joseph's University at 11 a.m.
