READING, Pa. -- The 25th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team twice avoided elimination on Saturday at the East Coast Conference Championship and appeared to be in prime position to do so once again on Sunday morning against No. 17 Adelphi before dropping the final two games in a 4-3 defeat at Hiester Lanes.
The Golden Bears fought back from two games down to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Baker series, but couldn't put the Panthers away. Adelphi won game six, 196-178, before bowling its best game of the series in game seven to eliminate KU, 232-168. Adelphi improved to 6-0 against the Bears this season and advanced to another elimination match against Molloy.
Kutztown advanced to round six of the double elimination bracket, its deepest run since finishing as ECC runners-up in 2016. The Golden Bears ended the year with a 74-57 overall record, including eight wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
