KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The top-two men's basketball scoring offenses in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) meet at Koehler Fieldhouse tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 27, as Kutztown heads down Route 33 North to take on East Stroudsburg University in an East Division rivalry matchup with an 8 p.m. tipoff.
The Golden Bears (14-12 overall, 8-10 PSAC) rank second in the conference in scoring at an 84.3 points per game (ppg) clip, just behind the Warriors (18-6, 15-3) at 86.6.
The main catalyst behind the KU offensive attack is redshirt-senior
Anthony Lee (Willow Grove, Pa./Abington), who enters Wednesday night as the fourth-leading scorer in the country at 27.5 ppg. He has scored in double-digits each of the last 55 games. Currently, Lee is fourth in the PSAC in three-point percentage (41.9), second in three-pointers made (80) and second in free-throw percentage (88.9). He is second all-time in KU history with 2,185 career points.
Josh Townsend (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) has scored in double-figures six of the last seven games and is eighth in the conference in rebounding at 8.2 rpg.
Moe Williams (Townsend, Del./Life Center Academy) has six double-doubles this season and ranks sixth in rebounding with 8.7 rpg.
Ricky Hicks (Coatesville, Pa./Polytech) has started 24-of-26 games and ranks eighth in the PSAC with a 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio.
These two teams last met back on Jan. 26, a 93-83 victory for ESU. Four Golden Bears reached double-figures in points, led by Lee's 23. Townsend had 18,
Facundo Arens (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Bahia Blanca) tallied 10 and freshman
Austin Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) recorded a season-high 17 points, including going 7-of-9 from the floor.
Kyree Generett (York, Pa./William Penn) added seven for KU, which has lost the last four games against East Stroudsburg, including the last two on the road. The Warriors have won seven straight overall.
Kutztown has lost its last two road games so it will look for a positive to take away knowing that its PSAC Tournament run will be away from the friendly confines of Keystone Arena.
