KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The nationally-ranked and fourth-seeded Kutztown University field hockey team is playing its best field hockey this season of late, and will look to continue its momentum as it takes on the second-seed East Stroudsburg University in the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship game Sunday, Nov. 10 at 12:05 p.m. at West Chester University's Vonnie Gros Field.

The Golden Bears (14-5 overall) enter on the heels of a dramatic and exciting 3-2 overtime victory over the top seed, previously-unbeaten and host West Chester University Golden Rams on Friday afternoon. They are currently tied for the most wins by a KU program since 2007, also earning 14 wins last season.

Kutztown is playing in its first PSAC championship game since 1988 and just the second time in program history, after the first win for KU at West Chester since Oct. 13, 2015, snapping a 25-game home winning streak for WCU dating back to Oct. 5, 2017 (4-3 OT loss to LIU Post). It's the second straight season KU has beaten a top-ranked Golden Rams squad. KU has never won the conference title.

Senior All-PSAC First Teamer Mackenzie Fuhrman (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) netted the game-winner just 2:32 into the first overtime period, and junior All-PSAC Third Teamer Alyssa Donato (Cedarville, N.J./Cumberland Regional) added two goals for Kutztown, which was also backed by a strong defense of senior goalie Kerri Hanshaw (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), defenders Hadley Wiktor (Danville, Pa./Danville), All-PSAC Second Teamer Leigh Roselli (Romansville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Juliana Borisow (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton), as the quartet made it difficult on an explosive Golden Rams' offense all day long. West Chester entered the game with a conference-leading 88 goals scored, 31 more than the second-best offense East Stroudsburg, but KU did not give in. Hanshaw finished with six saves, her second-highest this season.

The Warriors (17-2) scored three first half goals to take care of the sixth-seed Millersville in the second semifinal of the day Friday. ESU held an 11-1 advantage in shots, including a 6-0 margin in shots on goal.

The teams have met twice this season with each school coming away with one win a piece on the road. Kutztown won at East Stroudsburg 2-1 in double overtime on a game-winning goal by Kyra Wozniak (Plains, Pa./James M. Coughlin) back on Sept. 25, while the Warriors got the better of the Golden Bears 2-0 on Oct. 8, at Andre Reed Stadium.

The rubber match is for all the marbles.
