MANCHESTER, N.H. – The fourth-ranked Kutztown University field hockey team was selected to its first NCAA Tournament in 12 years and will open competition as the fifth seed, hitting the road to take on fourth-seeded and fifth-ranked Southern New Hampshire in the First Round Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m., at Dr. George J. Larkin Field.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and $1 for students at the door.

The Golden Bears (14-6 overall) earned an at-large bid to the big dance for the first time since 2007. That season, KU lost its First Round game 2-0 to Bloomsburg. KU won a First Round game over Messiah 2-1 in overtime before falling in the Second Round to Salisbury (Md.) by the same score in 1988. It has two tournament wins in program history, the other coming in 1982. In just its sixth season as a program, Southern New Hampshire (17-4) is playing in its first NCAA Tournament.

Kutztown is having one of its best seasons in program history in 2019. It reached the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference final four just the second time in program history and won a postseason game for the first time since 1988 when it took down Mansfield back on Nov. 5. The 14 wins thus far is also tied for the most wins by the program in a season since 2007.

KU enters after victories over the Mounties in the PSAC Quarterfinals and top-seed West Chester in the semifinals, followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat to East Stroudsburg in the final.

The Golden Bears attack is led by senior All-PSAC Second Teamer
Kyra Wozniak (Plains, Pa./James M. Coughlin), who is tied for the team-lead with 10 goals and also has three assists for 23 points. Junior Third Teamer
Alyssa Donato (Cedarville, N.J./Cumberland Regional) also has 10 goals on the year. Senior PSAC First Teamer
Mackenzie Fuhrman (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) has been an all-around performer, scoring six goals and adding eight assists, while stepping up as one of KU's better defenders. PSAC Second Teamers junior
Leigh Roselli (Romansville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) (four goals, six assists) and sophomore
Rachel Dusman (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) (six goals, two assists) each have recorded 14 points this season.

Izzy Radel (Harveys Lake, Pa./Lake-Lehman) has tallied double-digit points in 2019, contributing four goals and two assists for 10 points. Senior captain

Rose Moore (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) has tied a career-high with three goals.

Defensively, senior goalie
Kerri Hanshaw (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) has been a standout in the cage over the second half of the season. Her 0.86 goals-against-average and .800 save percentage both rank in the top-five in the PSAC. In front of her, Roselli, senior captain
Hadley Wiktor (Danville, Pa./Danville) and sophomore
Juliana Borisow (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) have been a stout unit for most of the season. The trio has combined for five of KU's seven defensive saves.

The Penmen are led by co-leading scorer and Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year Laura van der Doorn. Her, along with Hélène Servais have both found the back of the net 15 times, with Servais also leading the team with 12 assists. Northeast Freshman of the Year Lisa Hagel also has double-figure goals with 13, while Emily Campbell has nine goals and 10 assists for 28 points, fourth on the team. Senior goalie Melanie Rennie was named All-Conference and ranks third in the Northeast-10 in goals against average (0.86) and in total goals against (15).

The winner will meet West Chester (18-1), the No. 1 seed and nation's top-ranked team, in the national semifinal at Biemesderfer Stadium on the campus of Millersville University of Pennsylvania on November 22 at 2 p.m. The winning team from that contest will advance to the national championship game on November 24 at 1 p.m.
