ALTOONA, Pa. -- The 25th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team rallied to stun host and nationally-ranked No. 9 Saint Francis (Pa.), 835-819, on its way to a 4-1 record during Baker format play, Friday, at the Red Flash Invitational.
The Golden Bears also picked up victories over Penn State Altoona, Penn State Behrend and Felician, finishing the day fifth of eight teams with a pinfall of 4,264. KU is just 67 pins removed from the top four and only 177 back of first-place Mount Aloysius (4,441) heading into Saturday's traditional matches.
Kutztown (40-41) dropped its opening match to No. 19 Mount St. Mary's, 895-838, though it rolled a 207 in game three --its second highest scoring game of the day.

Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) helped the Maroon and Gold bounce right back with the come-from-behind win over Saint Francis (Pa.). Kutztown erased a 38-pin deficit with a 176-134 win in game four and edged the Red Flash, 175-163, in game five to generate its fourth victory over a top 10 nationally-ranked opponent this season.
Coach
Joseph Ambrose's team got off to a fast start against Penn State Altoona with a high game of 213 en route to a 916-730 win. The Golden Bears defeated Penn State Behrend, 828-678, and Felician, 847-812.
Freshman
Madison Burkert (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) led KU with an 18.7 frame average across 23 frames. Hartley knocked down 17.8 pins per frame over 50, with Delp in close pursuit at 17.4 over 50.
Kutztown meets LIU Post at 10 a.m. on Saturday for the first of five traditional matches.
