KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University field hockey team will open its 2018 home slate at Andre Reed Stadium on Friday, Sept. 7, matching up with non-conference opponent Franklin Pierce University at 2 p.m.

Live stats and video will be available via the links above with the broadcast set to air on the PSAC Network via the KU Stretch Internet portal.

In addition, fans can stream events through their televisions using the following devices: Roku, Amazon Fire, Android TV and Apple TV. To stream PSAC Network events through these devices, simply search for "PSAC" on any of the compatible devices, and download the free app.

KU (1-0) passed its first test of the 2018 season, claiming a 3-0 road victory over Mercy College on Aug. 31. Kyra Wozniak (Plains, Pa./James M. Coughlin), the team's leading goal scorer from a year ago, picked up right where she left off, notching two goals for head coach Marci Scheuing's club. Rose Moore (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) added a tally as well for a Golden Bear offense which outshot Mercy 23-1.

Mackenzie Fuhrman (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was also an integral part of the offensive effort, totaling four shots, three of which were on goal. In net, freshmen Katie Dotterweich (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Grace Dow (Riverhead, N.Y./Riverhead) combined for the shutout playing 58 and 12 minutes, respectively.

Focusing its attention on FPU, KU will be looking for its fourth consecutive win in home-openers dating back to the 2014 season. Kutztown is also currently riding a 10-game win streak against non-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponents, a streak which spans nearly three years.

The Ravens of Franklin Pierce (1-0) used two second-half goals in a four-minute span to down St. Thomas Aquinas 2-1 in their season opener last Friday. Seniors Raegan Moulton and Dayna Kowesky scored for a veteran FPU side which starts a total of five seniors and two juniors. Moulton totaled a team-high 22 points in 2017 and is the main offensive threat for the Ravens.

With the Golden Bear offense looking to be in good form early in the season, an advantage for Kutztown should come in the attacking end of the field. FPU's goaltender Olivia Barnes made her first career start against St. Thomas Aquinas and will need to be poised against a relentless KU attack.

The Maroon and Gold, on the other hand, may be able to capitalize on Barnes' inexperience and use it to their advantage. FPU allowed seven shots, including five in the second half, and five penalty corners to a St. Thomas Aquinas side which KU defeated handedly 8-0 in its 2017 opener.
