Box Score ERIE, Pa. –
Emily Zwiercan (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico) netted her first multi-goal game of the season to lead the 11th-ranked Kutztown University women's soccer team to a 2-0 road win over Mercyhurst University Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
Zwiercan's two goals move her up to fourth in school history with 26 in her career.
The Golden Bears (8-2, 6-2 PSAC) showed their poise to once again refuse to concede two in a row. After falling to nationally-ranked West Chester on the road earlier this week, Kutztown responded with a strong road win Saturday. KU out-shot Merychurst 17-6 and scored on two of its seven shots on goal.
Kutztown struck twice within a six-minute span early in the second half. Zwiercan scored in the 50th and 56th minutes to give KU the multi-goal lead it needed to allow its defense to hold tough for the 2-0 win.
Goalkeeper
Jenna Bracken (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) notched her 17th career shutout with a three-save performance.
Kutztown is in the thick of a four-game road-trip, which continues next weekend, Saturday, Oct. 6, at Clarion University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
