PHILADELPHIA – The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to the Jefferson University Rams 8-1 on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) recorded KU's lone victory, earning her fourth singles win of the season at the No. 1 singles slot by scores of 6-1 and 6-4, respectively.
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) also delivered a solid performance for the Maroon and Gold at the No. 3 singles spot, winning the second set in her match, 6-4, but then falling in the tiebreak. Pursell won a total of 11 games in those three sets, dropping her match by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 10-3.
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and
Ashley Carter (Eynon, Pa./Valley View) performed admirably in their tilt at the No. 3 doubles slot, winning seven sets. Malik and Carter, however, were outlasted by their Jefferson opponents, falling 9-7.
KU returns to its conference slate in its next competition, facing off with Bloomsburg University on the road on April 10 at 3 p.m.
