BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University's
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) won 10 games to force tiebreakers at the top flight of singles, but the Golden Bears dropped a 9-0 decision on the road Tuesday night against Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action from BU's Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Capoferri dropped the first set of No. 1 singles, 6-3, but rallied with a 6-4 win to force tiebreakers. Unfortunately for KU, she fell 10-5 in the setback.
The doubles team of
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) won the most games for the Golden Bears, winning six in an 8-6 final.
Along with Capoferri, Malik and
Elyssa Tomczyk (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) won multiple games for Kutztown.
Kutztown closes out its PSAC schedule on Saturday, April 14, with a home match against East Stroudsburg University, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Keystone Courts. KU will need to win Saturday to force a potential tiebreaker and keep its playoff hopes alive.
