SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Kutztown University senior
Sarah Gabriele (Felton, Pa./York Catholic) surpassed 200 career points Tuesday, the first in school history, as she was 1-of-4 multi-goal scorers for the KU women's lacrosse team in its 17-12 loss at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action from SU's Robb Sports Complex.
Gabriele, who entered her senior year as the program's all-time leader in points and goals, scored her 16th and 17th goals of the season Tuesday. It boosted her career totals to 152 goals and 201 points.
She opened the scoring Tuesday and led KU to an early 3-0 lead in the first five minutes. The following 25 minutes of the first half belonged to the Raiders though. SHIP outscored KU 11-3 leading into halftime to push it out to a five-goal lead at half – one KU could not overcome in an evenly-matched second half.
Both teams were extremely efficient in possession at a combined 37-for-40 in clear attempts. With high shot totals of 73 combined, both goalkeepers were forced to be on top of their games. Kutztown freshman
Haley Kline (Reading, Pa./Wilson West Lawn), along with KiKi Brasher of Shippensburg combined for 27 saves.
Along with Gabriele,
