KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 16th-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team secured victories in 5-of-10 bouts against sixth-ranked University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, but suffered a 23-15 setback in its home Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener on Tuesday evening, which doubled as KU Wrestling's annual Military Appreciation Night.
Lucas Miller (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) controlled his match at 133 lbs., evening the dual score at 3-all with a 9-4 decision over Pitt-Johnstown's Lukas O'Connor. KU then got consecutive wins at 157 lbs. and 165 lbs. as
Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and
Mikey O'Brien (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) each dispatched their opponents with victories by decision.
O'Brien delivered perhaps to most notable victory of the evening at 165 lbs., winning a hard fought 4-3 decision over UPJ's Devin Austin, the nation's fifth-ranked wrestler at 165.

Jeff Reimel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), in his first action of the season, defeated Mike Geyer 7-3 for KU's fourth triumph of the night. Fifth-ranked
Andrew Dunn Jr. (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (Virginia Tech)) put a cap on the Maroon and Gold's solid performance with a 5-2 win at heavyweight to round out Kutztown's winners in its first dual of the season.
Bonus points proved to be the difference in the match as the Mountain Cats of UPJ posted three bonus victories by way of two pins and one tech. fall.
Kutztown continues its dual season in the PSAC in its next competition, taking on Seton Hill University at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, inside of Keystone Arena.
