ROCKAWAY, N.J. – The 24th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team won its only traditional match and also its first of two best-of-seven baker match Sunday afternoon to cap a successful weekend, finishing in sixth place at the Caldwell Classic in Rockaway, N.J.
The Golden Bears had several program highlights accomplished over the weekend, including the program's 800th overall victory in a 934-902 win in a nationally-ranked match vs. seventh-ranked University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday. That was the first of two victories against ranked opponents for KU, including a 911-816 win over No. 9 Fairleigh Dickinson Friday. Kutztown went 8-5 overall in the three-day event.
On Sunday, the Maroon and Gold opened with a nail-biting 805-804 triumph against Saint Francis Brooklyn to wrap up traditional play. Following that, KU had another close win, defeating Molloy 4-3, It's day ended in the next baker round, falling to ninth-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson 4-2.

Ashley Fister (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) led KU with a high of 19.73 baker average, followed by classmate
Lindsey Gotwalt (Hanover, Md./Meade) at 19.26. Sophomore
Keanna Delp (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) had an average of 17.96 and junior
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) had a 17.7 average. Kozma finished seventh overall in the field with an 18.6 average in the traditional rounds, and a high score of 200.
KU hosts the Kutztown Duals next weekend at Jordan Lanes in Whitehall, beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 with a matchup against Bloomfield.
