KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team turned in one of its best performances of the season on Monday afternoon, winning its season-finale on Senior Day, 5-4, over Philadelphia University in non-conference action at the Keystone Courts.
Monday marked the final collegiate matches in the careers of two seniors –
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and
Kady Wuagon (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) – and both were victorious Monday.
In doubles play, Konas teamed with
Taylor Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) at the No. 1 flight to win an 8-6 decision.
Moving to singles action trailing 2-1, Kutztown needed to win 4-of-6 matches to earn the victory. Capoferri won her second match of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) didn't surrender a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4, while Wuagon won her final singles match at KU in dramatic fashion – winning 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
Ashley Carter (Eynon, Pa./Valley View) won by default at No. 6 singles to round out Monday's season-finale.
