EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team entered day two of competition at the Hawk Flight Invite on Saturday facing some intense competition from three ranked opponents, ending the day with a 2-3 record.
The Golden Bears (50-58) suffered a setback in its first match of the day against No. 4 Sam Houston State, 998-803.
Despite dropping its first match, KU rallied to defeat its next two opponents. First came LIU Post, who the Golden Bears finished with a close lead over the Pioneers, 811-778. A match-high score of 205 from
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) then helped secure a win in the third contest of the day over Saint Peter's, 845-757.
The Maroon and Gold finished the day with tough competition from its final two opponents, No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 16 LIU Brooklyn. KU fell to Vanderbilt by a close ten-pin margin (896-886) before closing the day with a loss to LIU Brooklyn (896-850).
Fitts led the Golden Bears with an average of 182.2 on the day, followed by
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) with 174.
Kutztown finished day two holding steady in 13th of 16 teams in attendance.
