Women's Bowling Splits Matches on First Day of ECC Championships

Day 1 Results

KEENE, N.H. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team opened day one of postseason competition at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships at Yankee Lanes, capping the day with a 2-2 record.

Kutztown (54-61) earned the No. 3 seed heading into day two of double elimination, bracket-style competition on Saturday, March 25.

The Golden Bears began the day facing some tough competition from Adelphi, where KU fell 959-864 in its first match of the win-loss style tournament.

Regrouping after a bye in round two, the Maroon and Gold returned to defeat their next two opponents of the day. First came a match against Roberts Wesleyan, where Kutztown posted a day-high score, topping the Redhawks by a commanding 290-pin margin, 963-673.

That momentum was continued in the Golden Bears' respectable victory over Molloy in its third match of the day, 870-814.

Unfortunately, the Maroon and Gold closed Friday with a heartbreaking loss to Felician in the position round, as KU fell to its opponent by single digits, 905-900.

The Golden Bears return to action tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, for the second day of the ECC Championships, first facing LIU Post in a best-of-seven baker match at 9:30 a.m.
