Malik Pushes Slippery Rock to Limit in Wednesday's Spring-Break Opener

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was a highlight of the Kutztown University women's tennis team Wednesday night. While the team dropped its nine matches in a 9-0 setback, Malik opened her spring break with one of the best collegiate matches of her career at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Club.
 
Malik played No. 3 singles and won a team-high seven games. She showed patience and started off her spring the best way she could in a 6-4, 6-3 Slippery Rock final. She also teamed up with Alicia Pursell (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg Area) in doubles action as the duo won two games in an 8-2 setback.
 
Pursell also won two games in singles action at the fourth flight.
 
The Golden Bears return to action Thursday, March 16, in hopes of taking the next step forward in an 11 a.m. match against Belmont Abbey College.
