MINEOLA, N.Y. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team finished its weekend of competition at the Molloy Invite, clinching third place in the field of nine competing teams with a 2-2 record.
The Golden Bears (46-52) opened the day with an impressive victory over Roberts Wesleyan, taking down the Redhawks and recording their best team score of the day with a 212-pin win, 894-682.
The second match of the day brought about a close setback after some tough competition from Adelphi, 852-824. KU rebounded shortly thereafter to defeat Saint Peter's in its third-straight matchup of the season, 799-769.
The Maroon and Gold looked to continue that momentum and avenge a day-one loss to Felician in their second meeting and final match of the Invite. Unfortunately, KU dropped the match, 876-778.
Melanie Aptaker (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) led the Golden Bears with an impressive 18.1 frame average, earning her a place on Sunday's All-Tournament Team.
Kutztown returns to action next weekend when it travels to East Brunswick, N.J. for the Hawk Flight Invite from Friday, March 3 through Sunday, March 5.
