Women's Bowling Slides to Seventh Following Day Two of Golden Bear Classic

Day 2 Standings

READING, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team hosted the second day of the Golden Bear Classic Saturday afternoon at Berks Lanes in Reading, where it faced some tough competition to end the day 1-4.

The Golden Bears (39-47) opened the day with an impressive win over Saint Peter's, ending their first match with a commanding 200-pin lead and a day-high 979-761. Unfortunately, the Maroon and Gold did not post a win for the rest of the day after falling to their next four opponents.

KU dropped its second match of the day against No. 20 Franklin Pierce, 901-830, before returning for a close battle against Coppin State, where the Eagles edged the Golden Bears by just 18 pins, 836-818.

Kutztown fell in its fourth match against No. 16 Adelphi before closing the day on an unlucky defeat from Chestnut Hill, 850-793.

Currently 5-5 in the event, the Maroon and Gold fell from second to seventh place in the field of 12 teams.

The third and final day of the Golden Bear Classic continues tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 12, with the Golden Bears returning to action at 8:30 a.m.
