MILLSBORO, Del. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team went 1-2 on day three of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, and fell twice at the hands of nationally-ranked No. 22 Franklin Pierce, ending its tournament run Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Bears lost 4-0 to Franklin Pierce in the First Round of the double-elimination playoff bracket.
KU followed with a 4-0 win over Coppin State.
But in the next match, it met Franklin Pierce again and was defeated 4-1.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) led the team in frame average Sunday at 19.84 through 26 frames.
Angela Kozma (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River South) held a 17.68 frame average, followed by
Dana Henry (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) at 17.27.
Kutztown is 25-15 overall on the season. 14 of the 15 losses are to ranked teams.
KU returns to the lanes for the Wilmington DII-DIII Invite in Wilmington, DE on Friday, Dec. 1.
