KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team completed a double-header with two matches Saturday at Keystone Courts. Against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents IUP and Seton Hill University, KU dropped both matches, falling 6-3 to IUP and 9-0 to Seton Hill.
During the morning match, the Golden Bears were taken down by IUP by an overall score of 6-3.
The Crimson Hawks opened up winning the first two doubles matches by straight sets, 8-0. Kutztown's doubles duo of
Mackenzie Delp (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and
Elyssa Tomczyk (Plainville, Conn./Plainville) won by forfeit to put KU on the board.
It is the second win for Delp in doubles action this season. She teamed up with
Shadimon Navarro (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) were victorious in the opening match against Holy Family back in early September.
IUP took the first four matches in singles action.
Navarro and Tomczyk won the last two singles matches by forfeit. They both opened up with two wins in singles action over the first two regular season matches.
The Griffins stormed through doubles, winning the three matches by scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-3.
Tomczyk's singles match against Seton Hill's Kaitlyn Walch was the closest of the day. Walch held on for a 6-4, 6-3 match victory.
Kutztown remains at home for their next match, taking on LeMoyne College on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at Keystone Courts. It is the final match of the fall season for the Golden Bears.
