Earlier on Thursday, the latest Super Region I rankings were released. KU was ranked sixth as a team and had wrestlers ranked in 8-of-10 weight classes.
Austin Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) has won a team-high 10 matches this year with a 10-4 record at 125. He is ranked No. 12 in Division II and third in Super Region I. He will be the only nationally-ranked 125-pounder at the tournament this weekend and looks to rebound after having his five-match winning streak snapped in Virginia.
Freshman
Lucas Miller (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) is eighth in the region at 133. He is in the midst of a three-match winning streak in which he outscored his opponents, 37-4. Miller is 6-5 on the season.
Christopher Crane (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) has also seen time this year at 133 with a 3-2 record and could see action this weekend.
Ryne Morrison (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston (Ursinus)) has been on a hot streak since last month's conference championships. He has won seven of his last eight matches, including three in a row. He sports an 8-6 record (7-4 at 141) and could have an opportunity for a significant win if he goes up against Tiffin's sixth-ranked 141-pounder in Division II, Trey Grine.
Mikey O'Brien (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) is 2-2 this year at 141 and could see a start or two this weekend.
Redshirt-freshman
Chad Haegele (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) is 10-5 at 149 this year and is ranked fourth in Super Region I. He has won four-in-a-row, including a season-best 18-second pin at the Virginia Duals.
At 157,
James Meyer (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) and
Bill Manley (Monroe Township, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) both wrestled at last weekend's Virginia Duals. Meyer has led the duo in starts with a 3-8 record, followed by Manley at 2-2. Eighth-ranked Scott Bosak of Belmont Abbey could be on the horizon for one of these two Golden Bears on Saturday.
T.C. Warner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley (Bloomsburg)) has opened his KU career 4-0 at 165 with four bonus-point victories. He's ranked third in the region and fifth in Division II and has been living up to his billing – being nationally-ranked before having wrestled a match this season. He has scored a 49-second pinfall this year, with his other three matches combining for a 49-2 scoring advantage. With four matches scheduled this weekend,
Connor Rogovich (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) (2-4) could also see time.
Joe Balboni (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton (Old Dominion)) is ranked fourth in the region at 174 with a 7-3 record. He has won five matches in a row – a streak he has outscored his opponents 49-15 during.
Collin Schildt (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) has been KU's sole 184-pounder this year with a 7-3 record. He is ranked eighth in the region and is riding a five-match winning streak.
Christian Jenco (Mahwah, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and
Jeff Reimel (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) both wrestled in Virginia last weekend. Jenco, ranked eighth at 197 in Super Region I, is 2-5 on the year with Reimel following at 1-2.
Ryan Appleby (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) remains ranked 10th in Division II at 285. The returning national qualifier is 9-5 this year and ranked second in the region. He has won five matches in a row and seven of his last eight. When KU faces Tiffin, a potential matchup could feature 10th-ranked Appleby vs. second-ranked Garrett Grey.
After the KU Duals, KU will travel to Lake Erie College for matches against the Storm and Ashland University on Saturday, Jan. 28.
