KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to East Stroudsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon, 7-2, as the team honored
Jessica Caples (McSherrystown, Pa./New Oxford) and
Vicki Norman (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) before the match for Senior Day.

Junior
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) had a dominating win at No. 1 singles for the Golden Bears. She took down Amber Jadus by a final score of 7-6, 6-1.

Norman and Caples both fought hard in singles action, but dropped straight-set decisions at No. 3 and No.4Â singles, respectively. At No. 3 singles, Norman fell to Elizabeth Bartoli (7-6, 6-2), while Caples fell to Kayla Loar at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-4).

In No. 3 doubles action, Norman and
Shadimon Navarro (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) were victorious with an 8-4 decision. Konas and
Kara Urland (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) picked up three games in an 8-3 setback at No. 1 doubles.

Caples has recorded three wins in both singles and doubles this season, while Norman has one singles win and three victories in doubles action.

Kutztown took donations for the Susan G. Komen Foundation throughout the duration of Saturday's match as it hosted Cancer Awareness Day.

The Golden Bears conclude their spring season on Friday, April 29, at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference road matchup at Harford Community College.
