BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team fell to Bloomsburg University, 8-1 in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup Tuesday.
Jessica Burns (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) collected Kutztown's (3-11, 3-3 PSAC) victory in singles play, coming from behind to win 0-6, 7-5, 11-9 out of the No. 2 spot.
Kara Urland (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) won a set in singles play, falling in a tough match 6-4, 2-6, 4-10 out of the No. 5 spot.
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and Urland were the top performers in doubles play, dropping a 8-5 decision in No. 2. Burns and Konas fell in the No. 1 doubles spot, 8-4.
The loss drops KU back to fourth place in the PSAC East, a half-game behind Bloomsburg for the third and final playoff spot.
The Golden Bears return to the court for a non-conference match at the University of the Sciences on Thursday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Kutztown follows it with its Senior Day against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m.
