PSAC Release

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Outfielder and third basemen Alec O'Dell (Edgewood, Md./West Chester Bayard Rustin (Harford C.C.)) of the Kutztown University baseball team was named this week's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Athlete of the Week on Monday.

O'Dell went 7-for-11 at the plate in last weekend's series split with No. 11 East Stroudsburg University. O'Dell hit .636 with a homer, a triple, and seven RBIs. He hit a two-run shot in game two at KU on Thursday afternoon, and followed it going 3-for-4 in Saturday's opener on the road, with a season-high-tying four RBIs. For the series, O'Dell recorded at least one hit in each of the four games played.

The Golden Bears lost game one of the series on Thursday, 13-0, before responding with a 6-1, win on game two. KU then took game one on Saturday, 8-1, before falling in game two, 6-5.

O'Dell leads KU with a .375 average on the season. He has a team-high four home runs and 20 RBIs. O'Dell's average is the 27th-best in the PSAC, and he has also contributed five stolen bases on the season.

O'Dell took home the East's Player of the Week selection while Lock Haven University's Jacob Belinda was named the East's Pitcher of the Week.

Gannon University's Nate Cardy won the West's Athlete of the Week while Perry Della Valle from Seton Hill University and Tyler Delval from Clarion University split the West's Pitcher of the Week honor.

Kutztown returns to the diamond on Friday, April 1, with a PSAC doubleheader at West Chester University at 1 p.m. The two teams finish the season-series the next day, heading to North Campus Field at Kutztown for another 1 p.m. start-time.
