STRATFORD, N.J. - The Kutztown University women's bowling team competed at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectionals on Saturday, highlighted by a 774-671 win over Adrian College.

Kutztown (64-42) started off the day with a loss against Ursuline College, 822-719, but won its next match of the day against Adrian College by a score of 774-671.

The Golden Bears third and final match of the day was against 11th-ranked Delaware State University. KU fell to the Hornets by a score of 776-707.

KU currently is seventh in the standings going into tomorrow's final day of competition with a total of 5,789. McKendree is in first, while Webber International sits in second. Delaware State, Emmanuel and Ursuline round out the top-five.

Kutztown competed in the USBC Individual Sectionals on Friday. The top-four finishers in the singles tournament go on to the national singles tournament.

KU had nine bowlers compete in the individual tournament on Friday, but none finished in the top-four overall.

Senior
Lauren Stamm (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) led KU with a score of 1,191 in her six combined games. She finished 17th in the field out of 135 competitors. Stamm's top performances during the day were a 255 in game five and 211 in game two.

Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) was 29th with a total score of 1,157. She had three games over 200, including a 223 in game five.

Freshman
Jess Garzio (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) finished in 42nd with a total of 1,124. Her top score of the day was a 227 in game two.

Amanda Wilson (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) was 54th in the field, while
Melanie Aptaker (Lincroft, N.J./Middletown South) finished 62nd. Wilson had a total score of 1,100, while Aptaker finished with a total of 1,090.

Kutztown returns to action tomorrow, Sunday March 13, at 9:30 a.m. against Felician University in the third and final day of the USBC Sectionals. It will also take on 22nd-ranked Sacred Heart and sixth-ranked McKendree before facing 11th-ranked Delaware State for the second consecutive day.Â
