EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team went 4-1 and posted 1000+ scores in three of its wins to highlight the second day of Monmouth University's Hawk Flight Invite.
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) averaged a 234.6 on Saturday with two day-highs of 267.
As a team, Kutztown defeated Felician, 1059-933, and 16th-ranked Monmouth, 1147-1023, to open the day. Following a setback to fourth-ranked Sam Houston State, 1129-953, KU rallied with wins over New Jersey City (967-773) and 14th-ranked LIU Brooklyn (1141-1038) to end the day.
The Golden Bears stand in fifth place with a 5-4 record through two days of the tournament. Vanderbilt and Sam Houston State are tied for first at 8-1, followed by Monmouth in third at 7-3 and LIU Brooklyn in fourth at 6-3.
Senior
Kayla Maselkevich (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) opened the day with a 257 in KU's win over Felician and ended the day with a 216 average. Fellow senior
Taylor Strothmann (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) followed with a 213.8 average that included three 200+ games on the day.
Amanda Wilson (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) posted a 201 average in her five games on Saturday.
