MILLSBORO, Del. – The nationally-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team competed across the state-line to face six teams in the second day of the UMES Hawk Classic, finishing with a 1-5 record and a win over a fellow nationally-ranked team.
Of the six teams that Kutztown faced, five of them were ranked in the top-25 in the nation.
The Golden Bears edged out a close victory in the fourth match of the day against 15th-ranked Saint Francis (PA) by a score of 1010-947. Unfortunately, that would be the only victory Kutztown would pick up for the day.
The match against Saint Francis (PA) featured
Felicia Trievel (Reading, Pa./Wilson), who bowled a match-high 245. This line would go on to be the best score of any Golden Bear for the day.
Trievel would also go on to bowl 200 and 204 in the fifth and sixth games of the day.
Notably,
Jenn Fitts (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) also had an impressive match against Saint Francis (PA), as she notched a score of 231. Fitts' best score of the day (233) came in a close loss to No. 19 Adelphi (938-947). She also bowled a 216 in the fifth match of the day against No. 8 North Carolina A&T.
