Women's Bowling Ends Day One of UMES Hawk Classic with Two Straight Wins

MILLSBORO, Del. – The No. 18 Kutztown University women's bowling team bounced back from three losses to ranked opponents to end day one of the UMES Hawk Classic with two consecutive wins, which included a victory over No. 20 St. Francis Brooklyn.

Despite beginning the Classic with its highest team score of the day, KU fell to No. 23 Norfolk State 914-965. The Golden Bears then dropped two more ranked matchups with No. 13 LIU Brooklyn (816-907) and No. 11 Maryland Eastern Shore (854-910).

Kutztown did not let the early results phase them as it finally came out on top against the No. 20 Terriers by a score of 895-849. The Maroon and Gold then carried that momentum into their final match and ended the day with a 777-702 victory over Coppin State.

Day two of the UMES Hawk Classic begins tomorrow, Nov. 19, 9:30 a.m. as KU takes on No. 16 Monmouth. In a weekend filled with ranked matchups, the Golden Bears will also face off with No. 19 Adelphi, No. 15 Saint Francis U, No. 8 North Carolina A&T and No. 14 Sacred Heart.
