EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The 17th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team avenged an earlier-season loss to Franklin Pierce on Friday while capping Day 1 of the FDU Jamboree with its two best scores of the day.
The Golden Bears went 1-4 Friday and competed against three nationally-ranked teams. After falling to Franklin Pierce earlier this season at the Sacred Heart Invitational, Kutztown rallied for a 910-892 win. KU led No. 20 Saint Francis Brooklyn by one entering the final game, but fell by a mere 16 pins in an 860-844 defeat. KU also fell to No. 16 Monmouth (873-784), Youngstown State (937-773) and third-place LIU Brooklyn (1087-856).
Through five matches, KU sits 20th-of-27 teams with a total pinfall of 4,167, an average of 166.7 per game.
The host, No. 10 Fairleigh Dickinson University, leads the way at 5-0 with a pinfall of 4,981, a 199.2 average.
