Bowling Opens Home Invitational with Pair of Victories

READING, Pa. – The 16th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team opened its day with an upset-victory over a top-10 team in the country to highlight the first day of the three-day KU Invitational at Hiester Lanes.

The Golden Bears (29-22) stand in 15th place of 22 competing teams and went 2-4 in their six matches on Friday, all against nationally-ranked teams. They opened with a 1067-910 win over eighth-ranked Stephen F. Austin to hopefully set the tone for the day. Unfortunately, KU dropped four of its next five to end the day.

It fell to 17th-ranked Norfolk State, 1025-850, 15th-ranked Valparaiso, 967-908, fourth-ranked Central Missouri, 1036-943, bounced back with a 988-948 win over 17th-ranked Monmouth, and ended the day with a 985-779 setback to sixth-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Kutztown treks back to Hiester Lanes on Saturday, Jan. 23 for six more matches, four against nationally-ranked opponents.
