PSAC West Takes Two Against KU in Crossover Weekend Finale

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team was swept in straight sets on Saturday by Clarion University before falling 3-1 to Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action hosted by Seton Hill at Sullivan Gymnasium.
 
Kutztown (2-12, 0-4 PSAC) displayed valiant efforts against Clarion (7-7, 4-0 PSAC) and Seton Hill (13-3, 4-0 PSAC), but were unable to keep pace with the perennial powers.
 
In the opening match against the Golden Eagles, KU dropped the first set but battled back in the second. The Golden Bears fell behind, 19-13, before making a run to draw within three points of the lead at 22-19. However, Clarion finished strong and ultimately took the second and third sets.
 
Senior Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the Maroon and Gold with 13 kills. Shannon Restrepo (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) recorded six kills and 11 assists. Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) added nine assists, while Madison Brake (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) finished with a team-high eight digs.
 
Kutztown played well in the nightcap against Seton Hill, posting set scores of 13-25, 19-25, 25-23, 19-25.
 
Freshman Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) led KU with 14 kills, finishing just one shy of her season-high. Stringer totaled 10 kills and a match-high six blocks.
 
Restrepo had an impressive all-around match, totaling seven kills, 16 assists, 12 digs and two service aces.
 
Conti finished with 15 assists, while Tori Wakelee (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) tallied three kills, six digs and two blocks.
 
Next up, the Golden Bears return to Keystone Arena for a five-match home stand beginning on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. against Cheyney.
