KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University baseball team hosted its last home games of the season from a windy North Campus Field on Friday afternoon, but Lock Haven University stole the show with two victories over the Golden Bears in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action by scores of 10-2, and 10-5.

Kutztown (17-21, 8-18 PSAC E) celebrated Senior Day with a pre-game ceremony for the seven Golden Bears in the 2015 class, comprised of Brandon Cholish, Drew DeShong, Ricky Gorrell, Brandon Hickey, Travis Kreitz, Brandon Martinez, and Thomas Romano. All seven made up the starting infield and outfield in the opener.

Lock Haven (12-23, 10-16) belted home runs early on in both games to put the Golden Bears in a hole.

In the second inning of the opener, the Bald Eagles registered a three-run homer following singles from the leadoff batters and scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to open up a 4-0 lead.

Kutztown responded in the sixth with a leadoff-double from Brady McNab. DeShong and Hickey followed up with RBI-singles to put the Maroon and Gold on the board and back in the game. However, LHU pushed it out of reach with a six-run effort in the top of the seventh.

KU's Paul Piromalli faced all but two batters in the loss, giving up 10 hits and striking out four. Only four of the 10 runs scored against were earned, however. LHU's Parker Watson improved to 2-3 on the season in the win, striking out seven KU batters.

Lock Haven kept the momentum rolling in the nightcap, starting off with a single and a two-RBI home run to go up early. The Bald Eagles built another 4-0 lead with a run in the third and the fourth.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Clay Sebesky inserted life back into the Golden Bears. Stepping up to the plate as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded, Sebesky scored all three runners with a double out to the center-field fence to cut LHU's advantage to 4-3.

After giving four runs in the top of the sixth, it was Sebesky again who shined at the plate, bending a home-run ball around the left-field foul pole to plate two runs for the Maroon and Gold. LHU strung together a triple and a double in the seventh to secure the 10-5 win.

Pat Flynn recorded five strikeouts from the mound in the start for KU, pitching 5.1 innings of six-hit ball. Three of the four runs scored against Flynn were earned. Cameron Mathis, Bobby Reddick, and David Brown each gave up two runs a piece in relief. LHU's Chad Speigle struck out five in the win.

Sebesky's five RBI in the nightcap marks a single-game career-high for the junior catcher, finishing the day 3-for-5 at the plate. McNab totaled three hits and Martinez snagged his team-leading 12th stolen base on the year.

The Maroon and Gold will wrap up regular-season conference play tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, facing off against Lock Haven on the road with a 1 p.m. start time.
