Travis Kreitz and junior
Brady McNab both homered on Sunday as the Kutztown University baseball team split its non-conference doubleheader at Philadelphia University. KU won the opener 8-6 and dropped the nightcap 10-7.
The Golden Bears (14-12) scored five runs in the fifth inning to highlight their two-run win in the opener.
Drew DeShong had the game-winning two-run single to give KU a 5-4 lead with one out. Following a groundball out, the second throwing error on a pickoff attempt on the Philadelphia pitcher scored
Brandon Cholish from third for a 6-4 lead. In the next at-bat, McNab went yard to right-center field with a two-run homer to cap the scoring for KU's five-run inning.
Kreitz went 3-for-4 in the opener as one of three Golden Bears with multi-hit games.

Eric Hartranft won his second game of the year. He took over in the fourth and threw two scoreless innings of one-hit ball with two strikeouts.
Kreitz had a team-high four combined hits in the doubleheader. Despite only having one hit in the second game, he made the most of it with a three-run homer in the fifth inning. He also notched an RBI in the sixth after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Rams (12-15) roared out with eight runs in the first two innings to command the second game; but despite the eight-run deficit, Kutztown kept plugging away with all seven of its runs in the final four innings.
Cholish went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, and
Thomas Romano went 2-for-2 with a walk in the nightcap.
The Golden Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 14 to take on Bloomsburg University at North Campus Field at 1 p.m.
