Results STRATFORD, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team won both of its NCAA matches on Sunday to move up to a 10th place finish at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Team Sectionals in New Jersey.
Also on Sunday, six Golden Bears were named to the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Academic Recognition Team. To qualify, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Those receiving academic honors are

15 teams competed this weekend for a chance at a berth to the USBC National Championship with a top-four finish at sectionals. In 64 baker games, Kutztown totaled a pinfall of 11,475, 525 behind the sectional winner of North Carolina A&T.
The Golden Bears won both of their matches against NCAA teams on Sunday, evening its weekend record to 3-3. KU won a thrilling one-point match over Norfolk State, 702-701. KU led by 38 pins heading into the fourth and final baker game, and kept itself within 37 pins in the final game for the narrow win. KU then defeated Ursuline by 15 pins, 746-731.
Webber International finished second, Wright State finished third and Delaware State rounded out the four national qualifiers.
The Golden Bears (58-50) look ahead to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships next weekend on March 20-22 in Howell, N.J. KU is the sixth seed of as many teams in the postseason tournament.
