MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The 15th-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team traveled to Millersville on Wednesday for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest from Pucillo Gymnasium. The Golden Bears executed a dominating performance, defeating the Marauders 38-9.
 
Earlier on Wednesday, the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association (WCA) National Rankings were released, with Kutztown (10-6, 4-1 PSAC) slotted at No. 15. Ziad Haddad remains the top-ranked heavyweight in the individual rankings.
 
The Golden Bears won eight of the ten bouts on Wednesday with all but one coming as a bonus victory.
 
Starting the match at 184 pounds, the Maroon and Gold big men got their squad off to a 14-0 advantage through the first three bouts. Andre Petroski (13-3) and Haddad (17-5) recorded major decisions at 184 and 285 pounds, respectively, with Brandan Clark earning a pin over Zachary Yackenchick in between at 197 pounds.
 
The Marauders (6-8, 1-6) picked up their two victories at the lower weight classes, earning a decision at 125 pounds and a forfeit at 133 pounds.
 
With the score 14-9 halfway through, it was all Kutztown the rest of the way.
 
Matt Benvenuto and Jackson Stabile tallied back-to-back pins at 141 and 149 pounds. Stabile's pin over Nico Demetrio came in an impressive 17 seconds, his first pinfall of the season and the fastest in his four-year career.
 
Matt Martoccio battled Shane Ruhnke to a 3-2 triumph in the 157-pound bout.
 
Bo Candelaria and Ryan Krecker closed out the dual with authority for KU. Candelaria surrendered only two points in a major decision over Brock Thompson at 165 pounds, and Krecker notched his first-career technical fall with an 18-3 triumph at 174 pounds.
 
Kutztown remains on the road this week for its final away PSAC matchup of the season, heading to Shippensburg on Friday, Feb. 13 for a 7 p.m. contest.
