COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Matt Martoccio (Kintnersville, Pa./Council Rock South (Lock Haven)) opened his hopeful, repeat All-America season on Sunday by pinning Division I Pittsburgh's 157-pounder to highlight the Kutztown University wrestling team's season-opener at the University of Maryland's Terrapin Duals.
 
KU fell to Pitt, 46-6, but rallied for a 25-12 win over Division II-foe West Liberty.
 
Martoccio's 10th career pin came in 3:36 and combined with his win over West Liberty, won his 62nd and 63rd career matches at KU, tied for 12th in program history.

Austin Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) and Anthony Petril (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby (Ursinus)) recorded decisions, while Martoccio captured a major decision against West Liberty.

KU trailed 12-10 before its heavyweights took to the mat. Then, Ryan Krecker (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area (Campbell)) won a decision, Collin Schildt (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) caputured a fall, and Ryan Appleby (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) won by forfeit to rally KU to victory.
 
The Golden Bears look ahead to the East Stroudsburg Open in two weeks, Sunday, Nov. 15.
