KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's volleyball team battled Lock Haven in every set on Friday night, but fell 3-0 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match held inside Keystone Arena.
Kutztown (4-14, 2-6 PSAC) played perhaps its best set of the night in the opening game, but Lock Haven (11-8, 3-5) emerged with a 26-24 set win. The Golden Bears trailed 18-14 but went on a 9-5 run to tie the game at 23-23. Then, locked at 24-24, Lock Haven tallied the next two points to take the set.
The Golden Bears kept pace with the Bald Eagles and held early leads in sets two and three, but were unable to edge Lock Haven, falling 25-17 and 25-20.
Freshman
Jessica Howe (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg Area) notched double-digit kills for the fourth time this season, finishing with a team-high 10 kills.
Senior
Audrey Stringer (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) tallied nine kills and five blocks. She is now just 43 kills shy of reaching the 1,000-kill milestone for her career.
Shannon Restrepo (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) finished with five kills, 12 assists, and nine digs.
Anna Conti (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) collected a team-high 16 assists.
Niki Carpenter (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion Area) tallied three kills and five blocks, while
Zandria Zielinski (York, Pa./York Catholic) collected four kills and one block.
Tori Wakelee (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) finished with two kills and nine digs.
Next up, KU hosts Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. at Keystone Arena. The Mountain Cats have won 10 matches in-a-row, currently hold the best record in the PSAC (8-0) and are 14-2 overall.
