Box ScoreCALDWELL, N.J. – The Kutztown University women's tennis team competed in its first dual match of the fall season on Thursday, and dropped an 8-1 decision at Caldwell College.
Jessica Caples (McSherrystown, Pa./New Oxford) and Ashley Carter (Eynon, Pa./Valley View) earned an 8-5 doubles victory. Junior
Alyssa Konas (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and
Yasmeen Malik (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) fell in doubles play 8-0, and
Jessica Burns (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and
Kara Urland (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) fell 8-2.
Kutztown's top two singles players were Konas and Malik, and both Golden Bears put up points in their two-set setbacks. Konas fell at the top flight 6-2, 6-0, and Malik fell 6-0, 6-1.
The Golden Bears (0-1) await the announcement of rescheduled matches from earlier this season against Mercyhurst and Edinboro hosted by KU at the Keystone Courts.
