SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's cross country team placed eighth out of 18 schools on Saturday afternoon at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships held in Slippery Rock.
 
Edinboro won the team title for the second year in a row, followed by East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg. California (Pa.) and Bloomsburg placed fourth and fifth in the field. Slippery Rock and Seton Hill slotted ahead of KU at sixth and seventh. Lock Haven and Mercyhurst rounded out the top 10.
 
Senior Corinne Manela (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) was the top finisher for Kutztown in the race. She finished 17th overall with a time of 22:56.6, which earned her recognition as an All-PSAC Second Team performer for the second consecutive year. It was the best finish for Manela at the PSAC Championships, after placing 32nd, 35th and 18th in the last three seasons.
 
Freshmen Stephanie Bresadola (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and Amanda Ferraro (Howell, N.J./Howell) ran well for Kutztown in their PSAC Championship debuts. Bresadola placed 33rd in the field with a time of 23:48.5, the highest finish for a KU freshman since Manela in 2012 (32nd). Ferraro was 39th overall in 23:53.0.
 
Olivia Dettore (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) finished 42nd with a time of 23:54.8 and freshman Alexis Dongvort (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) rounded out the top five for the Golden Bears with a 61st place showing in 24:28.7.
 
Kimberly Katzgrau (Oak Ridge, N.J./Pope John XXIII) placed 88th overall in 25:10.4. Freshmen Shannon McChesney (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) and Lauren Rothstein (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) finished 116th and 126th, respectively.
 
Freshman Julie Stratton (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) was 144th overall with a personal-best time of 27:42.1. Erin Callaghan (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) rounded out the runners for Kutztown in 148th.
 
The next race for Kutztown is on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 12:15 p.m. at the NCAA Atlantic Regional held in Lock Haven.
