#6 Field Hockey Defeats Saint Thomas Aquinas, 5-0

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Senior forward Anna Behm (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) continued her offensive tear this season by tallying two goals and an assist on Friday, as the Kutztown University field hockey team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas, 5-0, in a non-conference tilt on a cold and rainy afternoon at Andre Reed Stadium.

Behm pushed her Division II lead in goals to 15 and has scored in five-straight games, one shy of the school record she tied last season. During the five-game goal streak she has collected a total of eight goals and one assist (17 points). Behm is now just one goal shy of 50 for her career. She is tied for fourth in KU history with Shannon Daggett (1994-97) at 49 career goals.

Kutztown (7-3) got off to a quick start against Saint Thomas Aquinas (1-7). The Golden Bears opened the scoring in the second minute when Madison Stewart (New Castle, Del./William Penn) scored her first goal of the season off a well-executed penalty corner. Assists were credited to Behm and Rayann Fink (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood). Behm then added her first goal at 3:07.

KU led 2-0 at halftime, but scored two quick goals in the second half from Behm and Courtney Ueberroth (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico) to secure the lead. Freshman Rita Muro (Barcelona, Spain/ES International School) recorded her first collegiate goal in the 58th minute.

The Golden Bears outshot the Spartans 24-3 and held a 16-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Behind solid defensive play, senior goalkeeper Kayla Denlinger (Manheim, Pa./Hempfield) and Chardonnay Hope (New Castle, Del./William Penn) recorded the second-straight shutout for KU.

The Maroon and Gold return to conference play tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 3 against Slippery Rock at 1 p.m. on Play4TheCure Day at Andre Reed Stadium. The team will show its support and honor those faced with the task of battling cancer.
