Video Highlights READING, Pa. – Kutztown University has hosted the largest women's bowling tournament in the NCAA for six straight years, and opened the KU Invitational on Friday at Hiester Lanes in Reading.
The Golden Bears (33-26), ranked 18th in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) national poll and fourth in the NTCA's first-ever Division 2/Division 3 poll, welcomed top programs from all around the country, including Florida, Tennessee and Texas.
KU stands in 12th place with a total pinfall of 5,703, an average of 190.1 per game. Central Missouri leads the way at 6,439, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson (6306), Wisconsin-Whitewater (6,252), Stephen F. Austin (6,061) and Vanderbilt (6,038).
Kutztown opened the day with a tough seven-pin setback to Bethune Cookman (919-926), but rallied with an upset over fourth-ranked Central Missouri, 1,024-929. KU split its next two matches with a loss to ninth-ranked Maryland Eastern Shore (884-1,023) and a victory over 16th-ranked Delaware State (1,005-833). Kutztown ended its busy Friday with a win over 19th-ranked Norfolk State (958-912) and a setback to UAB (913-961).
