Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's soccer team went up against one of the top teams in the region on Wednesday afternoon, however, a Slippery Rock goal in the sixth minute set the tone that the Golden Bears were not able to overcome in a 2-0 setback on the road.
The Golden Bears (3-3, 2-3 PSAC) fired more shots than The Rock (4-2-1, 3-2-1) in the game, 14-12, but Slippery Rock scored on two of its seven shots on goal to lead it to victory.
Slippery Rock's Leslie Henny scored off a corner in the sixth minute as it led Kutztown 1-0 at halftime. The lead was extended to two in the 62nd minute with Ali Brosky's first goal of the season.
Notably, all three of Kutztown's losses this year have come by shutout.
Mariah Dimm (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) and
Megan Frailer (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) were Kutztown's top two targets up front with four shots apiece. Freshman keeper
Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied five saves in goal.
Kutztown returns home on Saturday, Sept. 27 for a matchup against 16th-ranked California University (PA) beginning at 3 p.m.
