Kutztown Bowling Concludes NEC Tournament with Two Victories

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. – The 11th-ranked Kutztown University women's bowling team won two matches on the last day of the final Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season meet of the season on Sunday. Kutztown's success this weekend allowed it to clinch one of six spots in the NEC Championships later this month.
 
The Golden Bears (68-38, 14-10 NEC) will compete in the NEC Championship on March 22-23 for the sixth straight year. It ended the season ranked third in the conference at 14-10 with St. Francis (PA) and Fairleigh Dickinson leading the way with 17 wins apiece. Six of the seven teams in the NEC will compete at the conference championships.
 
Kutztown opened the day with an upset setback to Adelphi (857-892), but countered to win its final two matches. It first took down Fairleigh Dickinson 1000-914 with its second highest score of the weekend. KU closed out the tournament with a tight 813-810 victory over LIU Brooklyn.
 
The Golden Bears return to action next weekend for the Music City Classic in Nashville, TN beginning on March 7.
