Kutztown Bowling in Sixth Place after Day One of Sectionals

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University women's bowling team sits in sixth place at the conclusion of day one at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) team sectionals from Parkway Lanes in Allentown.
 
After the first block of 16 baker games, Kutztown sat in third place with a total pin fall of 3,075. The Golden Bears slowed down for the second block of 16 games, knocking down 2,994 pins. The Maroon and Gold's total pin fall for day one was 6,069, placing them in sixth.
 
For the first four games of the day, Kutztown was matched up against Ursuline College, where the Arrows bested Kutztown 741-720. Kutztown squared off against St. Francis (PA) in the next four games, earning a 777-660 victory.
 
Kutztown will need to step up tomorrow for the final day of the tournament, which will consist of two more blocks of 16 baker games starting at 8:30 a.m. The top four teams earn a trip to the USBC National Championships in Reno, Nev. on April 14-19. KU has qualified for nationals the past three seasons in as many seasons of competing.
